Sports activities broadcasting legend Greg Gumbel has died.
The longtime studio host’s household stated in a press release to CBS on Friday “he handed away peacefully surrounded by a lot love after a brave battle with most cancers.”
They added, “Greg approached his sickness like one would anticipate he would, with stoicism, grace, and positivity. He leaves behind a legacy of affection, inspiration and dedication to over 50 extraordinary years within the sports activities broadcast trade; and his iconic voice won’t ever be forgotten.”
“Greg’s reminiscence will endlessly be treasured by his household, dearest buddies, colleagues and all who liked him.”
Gumbel was a mainstay when it got here to sports activities on CBS — he referred to as NFL video games for many years … and in addition anchored the community’s annual protection of NCAA tournaments for years.
