Rob Lowe says a sequel to St. Elmo’s Fireplace is within the works.
Lowe, 60, teased the undertaking throughout an interview with Leisure Tonight on Monday, July 29.
“We’ve met with the studio and I’ve been speaking about doing it for about 4 months,” the actor revealed of plans for a possible follow-up. St. Elmo’s Fireplace, launched in 1985, showcased Lowe and fellow Brat Packers Andrew McCarthy, Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy and Judd Nelson as faculty graduates navigating the ups and downs of younger maturity. Lowe, then in his 20s and on the peak of his heartthrob powers, sported a mullet and chiseled jawline to play troubled saxophonist Billy Hicks.
In June, McCarthy, who performed broody author Kevin Dolenz, launched the Hulu documentary Brats, about his difficulties dealing with the “Brat Pack” label coined by New York journal journalist David Blum the 12 months that St. Elmo’s Fireplace hit theaters. Whereas McCarthy, 61, blames Blum for stalling his performing profession, Lowe — who seems briefly within the doc — has come to embrace his legacy throughout the Brat Pack, a gaggle of actors who embodied Nineteen Eighties youth tradition and starred in beloved coming-of-age motion pictures from The Breakfast Membership to Fairly in Pink.
As for a possible St. Elmo’s Fireplace sequel, Lowe instructed Leisure Tonight that the thrill round Brats has “solely added to the thrill round it.”
“Nevertheless it’s very, very, very, very, very early phases,” he stated. “So we’ll see.”

For now, Lowe is on a press tour together with his son, John Owen Lowe, as they put together for the second season of their Netflix comedy Unstable, which is about to premiere on Thursday, August 1. (John Owen, 29, has by no means seen St. Elmo’s Fireplace and calls it “St. Elmers.”)
In John Owen’s July 25 look on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, he detailed his “psychological breakdown” two weeks into filming the primary season of the present.
“I walked off set and I went into my trailer, and I went, ‘Oh s—t. I used to be making an attempt to turn into my very own particular person and get distance away from him and I’m now his costar. My face is subsequent to his on a one-sheet and I’ll be doing press with him,’” he recalled. “It was like all these realizations dawned on me and I bear in mind calling my representatives, which is so humorous.”
John Owen stated his reps suggested him to “relax” as a result of Unstable can be a superb factor. He and his dad painting the fictional father-son duo Ellis and Jackson Dragon, parodying their real-life dynamic. (Lowe and spouse Sheryl Berkoff share John Owen and his older brother, Matthew Lowe, 31, whom Lowe dubs his “civilian son.”)
Lowe and Berkoff, 63, a make-up artist, have been fortunately married for 3 many years — a rarity in Hollywood — and had been rumored to have been launched in 1983 by Lowe’s Brat Pack buddy Estevez, 62. In honor of their thirty third marriage ceremony anniversary on July 22, Lowe posted a candy tribute to Berkhoff on Instagram.
“My Love Bug has given me 33 years of affection, ardour and understanding,” he wrote alongside a foolish selfie of her. “Add a few nice younger males and I’m unbelievably blessed. Joyful Anniversary, child! Xoxox.”
