Jeff Bezos says stopping the Washington Submit, the newspaper he owns, from endorsing a presidential candidate final month was the appropriate transfer and he is happy with his determination.

The Amazon founder and WaPo proprietor doubled down on the controversial determination — a drastic break from custom — Wednesday on the Dealbook Summit in New York Metropolis.

Throughout a dialog with Andrew Ross Sorkin, Bezos says he knew his determination to place the kibosh on election endorsements would draw tons of backlash … and it did. The transfer reportedly resulted in 200,000 readers canceling their subscriptions.

However Bezos says he is simply making an attempt to avoid wasting the paper in the long term … promising to proceed protecting Biden, Trump and all future presidents “very aggressively.”
