David Johansen, the frontman for proto-punk band New York Dolls and actor identified for his work within the Invoice Murray basic “Scrooged,” has died.
Johansen died Friday at his New York residence … his demise was confirmed by his stepdaughter, Leah Hennessey to a number of retailers.
The enduring rocker with a deep, gravelly voice introduced final month he was affected by stage 4 most cancers, a mind tumor and a damaged again — though his reason for demise has not been introduced.

David joined the New York Dolls in 1971 … and the band broke up in 1976 when DJ created the alter ego Buster Poindexter, a lounge singer character who had a success with the tune “Sizzling Sizzling Sizzling.”
Then in 2004, New York Dolls reunited … with Johansen, Sylvain Sylvain and Arthur Kane releasing three albums and touring.
Johansen dabbled in appearing … and is finest identified for enjoying the Ghost of Christmas Previous within the ’80s vacation basic “Scrooged.”
David is survived by his spouse, Mara Hennessey, and his stepdaughter, Leah.
He was 75.
