Judy Garland‘s iconic ruby slippers from “The Wizard of Oz” have discovered a brand new dwelling, promoting over the weekend for a record-breaking $32.5 million!!!
The slippers, worn by Judy within the 1939 traditional movie are one among solely 4 surviving pairs made for the movie. Their crimson sequins and legendary standing drew intense curiosity at Heritage Auctions, which facilitated the sale on Saturday. The successful bidder stays nameless.
The slippers have been stolen in 2005 from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and remained lacking for over a decade. They have been recovered throughout an FBI undercover operation in 2018.
The sale shattered the earlier information for Hollywood memorabilia, held by Marilyn Monroe’s Seven 12 months Itch costume, which offered for $4.6 million in 2011.
Whereas one pair of ruby slippers sits within the Smithsonian, the remaining three, together with the pair offered at public sale, are in personal collections.
